Updating direct x files
Starting with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, Microsoft introduced Direct X 11. To confirm and check which version of Direct X you have installed on your computer, this is what you will need to do on your Windows 10/8 computer. Under the System tab, you will see the Direct X version installed on your computer.
I can't do this, as my motherboard doesn't have them, but at least when checking system information it seems that the OS recognizes the card (a Radeon Hd 4870, not exactly cutting edge stuff...), so not sure if it's the same, though it might be, as I tried installing the latest drivers for Windows 7/8 and couldn't. A lot of computer programs require specific runtimes in order to work properly; in other words some software sometimes needs the presence of another application that is especially designed to support its execution. One of the most common and encountered by the majority of users when dealing with multimedia elements is Microsoft's Direct X.After installing Windows 10 Technical Preview (a clean install) pretty much 99% of my games stopped working. Most of these I got on Steam, so when I try to play one, it starts the first-time setup, where it tries to install Direct X and then it just returns to desktop.
The technologies included in this package also feature performance and security updates, therefore it's recommended to update it each time a new release is available.
